Happy Valentine's Day...Did you know?

In honor of Valentine's, I've put up some history about the word KISS.

The band KISS used to be known as Wicked Lester. They changed the name in 1973. Paul Stanley (guitar and vocals) became the "Starchild" due to his tendency to be referred to as the "starry-eyed lover" and "hopeless romantic." Stanley came up with the name for the band, which was taken from the New York Dolls song "Looking For A Kiss."

The scientific name for kissing is philematology.

Some anthropologists believe that kissing originated with early Homo sapiens passing food to their babies mouth to mouth. As humans developed, the mouth-to-mouth feeding stopped but the learned behavior of kissing remained.

Hershey's Kisses got their name because the machine that makes them looks like it's kissing the conveyor belt.

Kissing each day will keep the dentist away. Kissing encourages saliva to wash away food from the teeth and lowers the level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up.

You burn 26 calories in a one minute kiss.

The average person spends two weeks of their life kissing.

The top five foods to avoid 24 hours before kissing are garlic, onions, fish, cheese and pastrami.

The longest recorded kiss took place in New York City on December 5, 2001, between Louisa Almedovar and Rich Langley. It lasted 30 hours, 59 minutes and 27 seconds
